Holiday Weekend

We had a great family holiday weekend and tried to really just relax. As of late our weekends and many weekday evenings have been filled with trying to sell our rental house. It was a much needed break.

We walked in the Monument Parade as a family for a friend, Jeff Crank, who is running for U.S. House of Representatives. It was a bit of a hassle, but still fun for the kids. Fortunately we were near the front of the parade and so were done early. The rest of the day we relaxed at home, took naps and read good books. We watched the fireworks from Memorial Park on our front porch. They were a little obscured by the trees, but it was still a good show. The kids were already in bed of course. I do look forward to being able to involve them in holiday celebrations more in the future.

On Saturday we decided to take the kids to the pool for the first time this summer. It was Abi's first time in a "big pool" and she quickly adapted to it. Dean was a little unsure of his new flotation device (a swim vest) but still enjoyed the water. We didn't stay all that long, but still had a good time. The rest of the weekend was more of the same napping, reading, and just being together. I enjoy all the activities of summer, but am glad to take a day or to and just rest. Life goes by fast enough as it is.

Abi is much smaller in this floaty then Dean was!
