Not sure what to say today, though I feel I should say something. For starters me, my family, and everyone we know personally are all fine. We weren't even on the church campus at the time of the shootings. (If you aren't a big watcher of the news you may be wondering what all this is about.)
Yesterday at 1:10pm a lone gunman opened fire in the parking lot of our church, New Life Church. Shortly after he entered the building he was shot and killed by an armed security person. Prior to that he shot a total of five people, two of whom ended up dying.
It seems so odd to have something of this magnitude happen so close to home and yet it isn't entirely all that shocking anymore. With all of the random shootings that happen in schools, malls, homes, etc why would a church be any different? Nothing, including life is sacred to our world anymore so we shouldn't be surprised when things like this occur. It saddens us, hurts us, but no longer surprises us.
As for me, life carries on as always. Children still need to be fed, diapers and clothes need washing, rooms need cleaning, etc. Through it all I remember that God is still on the throne and watching over each of us. I know that the two young women who died yesterday were welcomed into the arms of Christ with joy. They've definitely gone to the better place. What satan intended for evil God will use for good in the lives of those who love Him and faithfully serve Him.
We would greatly appreciate your prayers for the families of the victims, the family of the shooter and all the many staff and witnesses who lived through the nightmare.
