Today I found out at a routine Dr's check-up that I'm a whole inch shorter then I thought I was or then I used to be. I can remember many days growing up when I would've rejoiced to be shrinking, but now I'm aghast! This means of course that I'm heavier then I thought I was and need to lose more to get into a healthy range. gulp! I need a serious boost of motivation to cut out some favs from my diet (i.e. cheese, butter, mayo, chocolate, etc,) and work out! Where or where to find it? :(

shrinking? Are you sure it's not the nurse's eyesight or the misplacement of the measuring rod on the wall? Seems a bit early to start shrinking- but hey- I can't measure you from 2 states away. :)
I also am attempting to lose a few pounds and recently found that the 'horrible giardia-like stomach virus' really did the trick to jumpstart my weightloss... It also was accompanied by big D, cramping, fever for 4 days, etc- but hey, I lost 3 lbs... :(
oh well. guess now that i'm well again, i'll do it the right way. nevermind that i just consumed a half a rack of ribs at dinner tonight with the inlaws.
love you!
Maybe we need to motivate each other. :) I don't know what my problem is, but this time around after Dawson, I just am not motivated to "do" anything....I have a feeling that there is something "out-of-wack" with my body anyway, like the pregnancy and birth kinda messed with my body more than normal. I need to get to a Dr. someday, but that could be a long time. :) Anyway, we should totally do a playdate sometime soon!!! I'd love to see you and catch up!
Do you do "fat-free" stuff - esp in dairy? If so, quit it :-) Seriously. Don't worry too much about some of the good fats- real butter, full fat milk, regular yogurt..... put stay away from fat-free and the fake sugars, the "sugar-free" options that use splenda or the the like. Get lots of fresh veggies - take an hour and cut them all so it's quick and easy to grab and munch on. My boys love dipping in ranch or yogurt or sour cream too. Start every dinner with a salad (if you don't already, I know how Kyle likes his salad!) - it's good for digestion and helps you cut back on portion sizes. I need to do this more, we all love it, it's just a matter of doing it. And it helps if it is already made, I try and make a big one that will last a few meals to make it easier.
If you haven't you should read "Eat Fat, Loose Fat" - I couldn't do all the coconut oil on it's own, BUT I think the more I learn, the more the concept is right and it has some good thoughts. Another good read, though not necessarily focused on loosing weight is "Real Food" by Nina Planck. The library has both of them!
love you! Jen
