Model Husband

Yesterday was my birthday and my wonderful husband surprised me with a full 24 hours sans children. That means I got to sleep in yesterday morning without waking up once. Usually when he lets me sleep in it means I wake up upon hearing the children, wake him, up and then fitfully go back to sleep for an hour with the sounds of little ones in the background. It was blissful to have such peace and quiet, but also strange at the same time. I enjoyed a peaceful morning of reading and journaling before getting ready for a day out.

We went to lunch at Sonterra Grill downtown (yummy gourmet Mexican!) and then killed time at Panera watching 24 on Kyle's computer. We then picked up a few things at Target and headed to the movies to see Seven Pounds. It wasn't at all what we expected but still really well done. After the movie we had a little more time to kill and burned a few calories walking the mall and just chatting like we used to do before we had kids. It's amazing how it's the simple things you miss. We then changed into dressy clothes and had dinner at the Steaksmith. It was an interesting meal as the environment didn't fit with the quality of the food. It felt like a rustic family restaurant, but the food we got was obviously prepared by a chef. We had delicious steaks on par with the likes of Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. For my husband, who could easily work as a fine dining critic, it was an interesting contrast. Still it was an excellent meal. Then like the old married couple we are, we headed home around 9 o'clock. Even our babysitter was surprised to see us home so early. What can we say! :) Hopefully in years to come, when I'm not pregnant and I'm getting a good night's sleep, I'll be able to get some of that youthful energy back. We did however stay up till 11pm watching more of 24. *sigh! It's addictive.

Anyway, all this to say thank you to my wonderful husband for a fabulous and memorable birthday!

Yay! I'm glad you had a well-deserved "day off"! Sounds like you had a great day and as always, Kyle was very thoughtful in all he planned. What fun!
